CHARITYSTRIDE: ONLINE EVENT & VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (DIP FYP)
A high-performance charity event ecosystem featuring Haversine-powered geolocation discovery, real-time WebSocket shift orchestration, and automated digital certificate generation for NGOs.

Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) often struggle with fragmented event workflows, relying on error-prone spreadsheets, manual attendance tracking, and disconnected registration tools. Furthermore, prospective volunteers and donors face significant friction discovering local charity initiatives relevant to their geographic vicinity, leading to low local turnout and volunteer drop-off. Without synchronized shift allocations or automated credentialing, on-site event logistics suffer severe operational bottlenecks.
Engineered a decoupled, containerized full-stack architecture combining a Next.js 16 SSR/CSR client with a high-throughput Laravel 12 REST API gateway. The platform integrates browser Geolocation APIs and spatial Haversine queries with composite coordinate indexing, allowing participants to instantly discover nearest events relative to their home radius. Shift concurrency and attendee updates are synchronized in real-time via self-hosted Laravel Reverb WebSockets, complemented by instantaneous QR-code validation and an automated vector-grade PDF certificate pipeline.
The primary engineering challenge was mitigating race conditions during peak registration spikes for limited volunteer slots while maintaining sub-second geospatial radius calculations. This was resolved by implementing database transactions with atomic pessimistic locking in MySQL alongside optimized Haversine mathematical scopes with composite spatial indexing (latitude, longitude).
Transformed manual NGO coordination into a zero-friction digital pipeline, slashing attendee on-site verification time down to seconds with rapid camera QR scanning. Participants can locate and register for nearby community drives within three clicks, driving higher local volunteer engagement and eliminating manual post-event certificate distribution.
